[Support] Twinity on Apple Mac OS

Dear Twinizens, and prospective Twinizens,

We have received feedback from several members interested in a Mac OS version of Twinity, or knowing what support for Mac is available. Unfortunately, at the moment, Twinity is not supported on the Mac platform.

On the bright side, Twinity has been tested under Boot Camp on MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air and has worked without any particular issues. This configuration is not officially supported, but should work. Twinity has not been tested under Parallels, as DirectX support in Parallels is still experimental.

We are keeping a list of people interested in a Mac version of Twinity, and we are looking into ways to bring Twinity to the Mac and provide official support for Twinity on the Mac. We will notify those interested if we find a solution.

Thanks,

The Twinity support team

[Support] SpeedTree issues resolved

We had a few reports over the weekend that after our last round of invitations, people who downloaded the latest Twinity client got errors about SpeedTree when they first launched Twinity. We have reproduced this and fixed the problem. You can either click No, and go through the automatic updates, or simply download the latest client from www.twinity.com.

Brainstorm Lounge Party this Thursday!

party! Dear Twinizens,

Join us on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 at 19:00 (CET) for an in-world party to celebrate your ideas for new virtual items in Twinity! Come to the Brainstorm Lounge, Berlin, and find out what other Twinizens have suggested for the future of Twinity.

Besides discussing ideas for new virtual items, members of Twinity Support and Metaversum staff will be in attendance to answer your questions, get your feedback and listen to any suggestions you might have about making Twinity a better place.

Most importantly, we want everyone to have fun! This event is a great place to get to know each other, hang out with new members or chat with your friends. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there for a bit of dancing and merriment.

If you haven’t already submitted your ideas for new virtual items, write us A.S.A.P. at newideas@twinity.com. The deadline is today!

See you on Thursday. — The Twinity Team

Twinity – Not Possible IRL

Some nice comments about Twinity from this link:

From Beth:

“I’ve been doing a little peek at Twinity, but it’s in very early Beta. I’ll return when they’ve added an ability to upload content – not just textures – but it looks promising,” said Beth. When I asked what kind of content she was hoping for, she indicated that she’s looking to them to make sound files, 3d builds and eventually scripting uploadable. “At the moment, its textures and webpages on a prim. The webpages on a prim do rock, though,” she added.

Glad you like the webpages on a prim! And other stuff is coming… Remember, it’s still beta! πŸ˜‰

And on stability:

I asked if it was stable at present, to which she replied, “Nope – you’ve got to have a patience of a saint.”

This is only fair. We’re working hard on this, and early results show positive results from the April 9 update, even if you do have to download the client again.

Call for Entries: Ideas for New Virtual Items

Dear Twinizens,

As you know, an important part of the Twinity Beta is getting your feedback. From your contributions so far, we already know that you have creative ideas that help to further develop Twinity. You now have another chance to actively shape the world!
You may have experienced moments like these while in Twinity: β€œI wish there were curtains for my virtual apartment!” and β€œIt would be cool if my avatar could dress up in a space suit for a costume party.”
IdeasOur developer team is looking for new virtual items to create and we are reaching out to you for your creative ideas! Here are some examples:
β€’ Home – curtains, wallpaper, plant stands, solid wall colors
β€’ Accessories – headphones, hair ornaments, jewelry, hats, glasses
β€’ Clothes and body – new t-shirt designs, hairstyles, tuxedos, sweat socks, tattoos
β€’ Items to hold – bags, backpacks, birthday gifts, umbrellas
Note: Very small items are barely visible on your screen, so keep that in mind when you submit your suggestions. Describe your ideas in detail, so we know exactly what you mean!
Please send your ideas by 05.05.08 to newideas@twinity.com or comment on this blog! The most popular contributions will be implemented in Twinity.
We look forward to hearing from you and we can’t wait to see what you come up with!

The Twinity Team

PS: We will present some of your ideas at our upcoming in-world party on May 8th! The party begins at 19:00 (CET) in the Welcome Area, Berlin. Stay tuned to Twinity.com for more details.
