Twinity Update on 7th July

Dear Twinizens,

hopefully you patched already! With today’s new update we could add to Twinity several improvements:

1. We have now a very brand new special location for the Dance Challenge called “Party Island”. You can visit anytime or join the event tomorrow 😀 to check on the high-score lists displaying the best players and the additions we made to the Twinity Jukebox!
2. We made several bug-fixes to the Twinity Launcher, which is still not turned on by default, but you can always activate it to check it out. You can find the instructions here, see point n.4 🙂
4. In-World links now can be used on objects to open UI-Windows (use the following special keywords: #Shop, #Animations, #MiniMap, #Places, #CustomizeAvatar, #Community, #Inbox, #FriendList when setting a teleport link)
5. Two new preferences in the settings menu were added:
– Ability to disable auto chat animations
– Ability to disable notifications when someone enters your place
6. Bugfix: It is now possible again to enter Marius skate shop, so go and get your skateboards ready!

Twinizens RL Meeting in Berlin

Time flies! As we announced last April the 3rd Twinizens RL Meeting in Berlin will be held on the weekend of the 29th to 31st of July 🙂 Here the activities suggested for any Twinizen willing to join it. All of them are open to suggestions and changes due to weather conditions and mood of everyone, send us your ideas to support@twinity.com!

Friday

– Visit Metaversum Office 😀 and of course the Twinity Team. Guests should be arriving around 16h and will have the opportunity to check out our desks, take pictures and make all those questions you ever wanted to make us LIVE! 😀

– Cocaine Cowboys beer. You don’t know what we are talking about? Well, that is exactly why you should come to Berlin!

Saturday

Tourist life is a hardknock life!

– Berlin Tour starting at around 12h. Here we have 3 options: to hop on a bus around the city (highly recommended if it rains), to take the boat around the city center or to join the marathonian “Berlin with Monica” Tour that lasts 5 hours but is amazing. Your choice!

– Möbel Olfe drinks at 21h to warm up 😀 before hitting the club. Being in the heart of Kreuzberg we can decide there where to go next and teleport in less than 20 minutes (we know, Twinity is faster but RL has also some advantages :P)

Sunday

– Badeschiff. After a hard party night, all you need is a pool and the sun to shine. We might come directly from the disco, only time to pick up all stuff in the hotel 😛

Changes on Twinity.com

If you opened today in the afternoon Twinity.com without being logged in, you probably noticed some changes 😀 We did modify the interface for new users with an initial slide showing the many different possibilities that Twinity has to offer. In addition, the Choose Your Free Avatar! button takes you to a new way to start in Twinity: the Avatar Selector. You can check the 15 different new default avatars before you login in the client and decide what suits you best! Do you like them? Which one would you choose?

New Floating Spaces and Outdoors Furniture

You probably noticed already or some other Twinizen pointed it out to you: with the Real Estate changes that were introduced, the places outside the cities got more exciting than ever! 10 days ago we released 4 new templates: village, moon, desert and void for you to starting to get a taste of the freedom to build. We have already seen amazing places such as Planet of Grapes or Dawn’s Sweet Spot for example.

And not only that, we also added an Outdoor folder in the furniture part of the 2D shop, the one you can access anywhere and anytime in world. There you will find around 200 new objects to decorate the outside environments and believe us when we tell you that there are many more to come! Search “NEW” in the 2D shop and keep an eye on it, we will update it regularly! Let us know what do you think about the new places and items!

Twinity on Wikipedia

Some time ago we asked Twinizens all over the world to help us collaborating in the translation of Twinity’s Wikipedia Page. So far we got the English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Romanian, Catalan, Italian and Swedish version but they all need to get even more complete 😀

If you are interested in adding your own language to the list or to correct any of the existing ones, just let us know contacting support@twinity.com. The offer stands: 1.000 Globals for a new language version or 500 Globals for editing and correcting one!

How and When to Report?

Twinity is powered by real-life, but like real life there’s a bit of bad mixed in with all the good. Online communities are composed of people from wide ranges of ages, cultures and geographic locations. We strive to create an environment where everyone can express themselves freely and enjoy themselves, but this is not possible without tolerance.

Even with tolerance, there are some cases where behavior is so universally unacceptable, that the person must be reported. This should be reserved as a last resort, because it doesn’t generally solve the underlying problem and instead just spreads it over a longer period of time. It can even aggravate a situation and make it worse than it would have been if handled another way.

Before resorting to reporting someone, consider these points:

  • Try to resolve the problem with the offending person in a mature rational way.
  • Do not try to resolve problems in the public chat. Discuss it privately – public conflicts always make a situation worse than it has to be. Also do not make comments to others in the public chat about the problem, that gives the offending person the attention they crave even if your comment is not directed at them.
  • Do not sink to their level, it causes you to be taken less seriously and could result in action against you.
  • Blocking the offending person is the most effective way to deal with them if you can’t resolve the problem peacefully. They have no reason to continue if you can’t see what they’re saying and they don’t get the reaction they crave.
  • It’s amazing how often just talking a problem out privately not only solves it, but results in a new friendship – give it a chance!

If all else fails, and the behavior is extreme enough, bear these points in mind if you do need to report someone:

  • Recognize that the behavior must be extreme to warrant a report. Twinity is an environment for adults. We expect adult behavior when dealing with problems, and have given you the block and kick from place functions to assist with this – reporting someone for minor issues is more likely to cause problems for you than them.
  • Never threaten to have someone banned, you’ll look very silly if that is not the action taken and that is not an action we take lightly.
  • The screenshot that accompanies your report must show the whole situation, not just a small portion of the chat with an out-of-context comment. Be sure your chat window is open, and drag the top up to show as much of the chat as possible. You may also send multiple screenshots if necessary for us to see the whole situation.
  • The screenshot must show the chat window, not just speech bubbles.
  • You must include information that lets us identify the exact account. Most names are used by multiple people in Twinity. If we cannot identify the exact account, we cannot take any action. The best way to identify the exact account is by including the link to that person’s profile on Twinity.com (click the link in their profile that says “Learn more about …” to open their website profile page).

To send a  report, right click the area and select “Report Abuse” then you see the following screen:

Avatar of the Week: Sami and Sun

This week we had big difficulties to choose Twinity’s Avatar of the Week! We had 19 submissions and some of them with more than 30 Likes, but the most voted and with best quality, the two main requisites, is Sami and Sun‘s with their sexy candy! We love the headphones and the tops too! Is that all made by Vampire Queen? :O

Twinity Update on Friday 10th June

Dear Twinizens, more new stuff coming to Twinity!

We just released:

1. A brand new “Rent space menu” in Twinity client, with much nicer layout and usability and BIG preview images. This new menu will be improved in the next release with more content!

2. We included preparations for new “Rent land outside feature” and environment creation to come in next release 😀

3. A fix to the Send Postcard to Facebook feature. Now when you click to the post a bigger version of the postcard opens and all the images are added to the Place on Twinity.com. Send a couple of postcards from your favourite place and check it out!

4. A fix for one of the most usual causes to crash, so Twinity gets more stable from update to update.

5. A fix for click-on-map bug, let us know if you still have problems with it!

6. You asked for it and you got it: we added a pause button to the Disco Challenge game in Miami Beach!

7. Changes to improve handling of  “Teleport back to last space”

We would be very grateful if you could send us feedback as soon as you detect any issue related to these improvements. That way we can fix them as soon as possible in the next release. We would also like to apologise for posting the information last minute, Fridays are very intense in the Metaversum Office!

New Update

Dear Twinizens, a new update was released today! Here is the list of improvements:

1. Teleport issues using the mini-maps are now fixed

2. Some people complained about receiving too many old popup messages right after login. Now we do not send the old messages to you anymore, so you do not have to close tons of popups after login.

3. If you have a lot of friends, now you will load them faster when you start your Twinity client. Even Monica can handle her +5,000 in a second 😀

4. A brand new Twinity launcher is added! It allows you to see who is online, visiting your place, getting your messages and friends requests without having Twinity running, all very easy to handle from your desktop with not more than 3 clicks. And of course you can launch your Twinity with a single click 😛
It will be not switched today automatically to all users, but if you are too curious to wait, you can already activate it. Just change your Twinity shortcut on the tesktop to point to “TwinityLauncher.exe” instead of “Twinity.exe”. Please report to us how the new tool works for you.

5. And last but not least: up for a dancing game? Discover the new dancing game we just added to Miami Beach! <3 Get your score, it will be saved in your user profile and it will be visible to everyone!
