Recent Patcher Issue

Dear Twinizens,

We mentioned early that we may be in for a bumby ride because of some of the major changes that we are making to Twinity. Well, we hit a pretty big bump. Unfortunately, an issue occurred with the release last Friday in regards to the patcher. Fortunately, not everyone was affected, rather only those who attempted to login over a brief period of time. We are in the process of contacting each of these members, however, the simplest way to see if your client was affected is to look at the version number (can be found on the bottom left corner of the screen in the client). If the version is 43385 then there are two possibilities that we can offer to fix the issue:
1) By far the simplest and fastest method: Simply download this small patch and run the installation. This will repair your client with no further action being required.
2) Some of you may have done this already, however, you can download the full client once again and do a fresh installation.
Should you need any support getting this issue resolved, by all means please feel free to contact us at support@twinity.com. Thanks again for your patience and understanding while we work through the occasional bump!

Best wishes,

Craig

[Operations] Twinity update May 12, 2009

Dear Twinizens,

We will doing a quick update to Twinity in the next hour. Because this update requires a server restart, you will be disconnected for a short period of time (approximately 10 minutes). We apologize for the inconvenience. This update remedies the following issues:
– At times certain avatars have not been able to move
– Occasional crashes when quickly teleporting to multiple locations
– Certain cases of crashing when attempting to exit the client
Thanks,
Craig

[Operations] Twinity update May 8, 2009

Dear Twinizens,

As you may have already read in the Blog, in the coming weeks there will be some major improvements to Twinity which focus on reliability and speed. We’re sure that you will like what you see, however, the road may be a little bumpy at first. We wanted to let you know that there will an update today to both the client and servers. Because of this, Twinity will be down for a longer period of time than normal (compared to past updates). The update will occur today beginning at 13:00 and complete by 15:00 (CET). Here is a short update on some of the key changes coming with this release:

– Major database changes to prepare for scripted objects
– Integration of new game server to improve connectivity and performance. Please be aware of potential instabilities in the next days as we are deploying a completely rewritten game server
– Minimap Layers – Ability to see selected location categories overlayed on the minimap
– Adding Unicode support
– Some minor fixes which occasionally caused the client to freeze
– Small improvements to the Inventory window which include resizing

Thanks,

Craig

Buckle Your Seatbelts!

Twinity is undergoing some major changes — though it may look the same, behind the scenes nearly every system is refreshed, replaced, and renewed. This work is being done to make Twinity faster and more reliable, but the ride might be a bit rough while the new pieces are put in place.

The next few days could be a bumpy road, but bear with us — a better Twinity is just around the corner!

Chat rapping with Graf Fidi!

The highlight of last night’s Indie Tuesday in the Motor Club was a surprise visit by German supremo rapper, Graf Fidi. Those who caught his act were in for a real treat in the form of a whole new crossover genre – chat rapping. Twinizens quickly caught on and joined in to bubble chat the chorus as Graf Fidi rapped live to a delighted audience.

Thanks to Graf Fidi for a fantastic performance! Could chat rapping be the next genre to take the world by storm? Watch this space! 😉
