The Metaverse Journal on Twinity’s continued momentum

The Metaverse Journal has a short piece noting some of Twinity’s continued growth. The piece has notes on some of the recent developments, coverage and partnerships for Twinity, as well as a closing piece that may well be true:

It’s a fairly stark contrast to recent failure Google Lively – there’s significant European and Asian business interest in Twinity. Mirror worlds are are comfortable exploratory option for business and government and this seems to be driving the momentum to date. The big challenge is continuing to build an engaged base of users in an environment of open-source content creation options and some degree of cynicism toward overt brand promotion in virtual worlds.

[Operations] New patch, November 28

Live Broadcast of zitty Readers Lounge!

Are you ready to get up close and personal? This month’s zitty Readers Lounge features Mia Ming reading from her provocative new book, Bad Sex 2.

The book is a collection of 33 stories from different men sharing their amusing, often embarrassing, and sometimes plain absurd encounters with the opposite (and not so opposite) sex.

Mia Ming is a chain-smoking partygoer with dubious morals and a whole set of unsavory friends. At least that’s what her official biography tells us. And listeners beware – this book takes no prisoners and doesn’t let anyone off the hook!

Mia Ming in Twinity
Mia Ming in Twinity For the very first time, the zitty Readers Lounge is being broadcast live in the zitty editorial office at Hackescher Markt. This means that Twinizens can take an active part in the live debate. And there’s sure to be plenty to talk about this time!

Date: Thursday, 27 November

Time: 20:00 Berlin, 2pm NYC, 03:00 Singapore

Where: zitty Redaktion

English-speaking Twinizens please note: this is a German-language event, but you’re still welcome to come along for a bit of fun and to meet up with the international Twinity crowd!

P.S.: As editor-in-chief of The Twinity Times, Jane zitty is looking for a few good avatars to report on the activities and interests of fellow Twinizens. If you are interested in working as a virtual reporter for “The Twinity Times”, write to reporter@twinity.com or send a message to Jane directly via twinity.com.

    Peter’s first experiences in Twinity

Peter has some info on his first experiences in Twinity on his Avid Insight blog. The review has some highlights and some areas where we still need to improve.

The default animations look fairly nice

The animations certainly seem fairly detailed, with facial expressions included in many, which is very nice.

And some improvement suggestions for us:

That aside, the text chat system being based on chat-bubbles, combined with the lack of camera freedom, would make discussions of more than a few avatars very difficult to do in text… but perhaps the aim is to encourage voice chat in Twinity anyway. The camera issues would also make it hard to present information to a group of people, or for multiple avatars to use a single resource, since they all need to be close to it ‘physically’ in order to see it.

    Conclusion

It’s got a lot of promise, and it seems fairly well-made so far.

Peter, thanks so much for taking the time to putting that together!
